Police officer, municipal official, historian.
Born at Carberry on 8 December 1950, one of six children of Axel Peter Christoffersen (1905-1991) and Marjorie Wingrove “Marj” Camp (1917-1998), his childhood was spent at Austin. He worked briefly for Manitoba Hydro then enlisted in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, graduating from depot training at Regina, Saskatchewan in 1971. His first two postings were at Avonlea and La Loche, Saskatchewan.
In 1973, he took a leave from the RCMP to work as a diamond driller in Fort McMurray, Alberta and a northern fishing guide before rejoining the police and being posted at Lundar (1975-1981) and Dauphin (1981-1984). He then joined the Manitoba provincial government to perform financial audits for gasoline and tobacco tax until retirement in 1998.
In retirement, he returned to Austin where he was active in community affairs. He served as a Councillor and Reeve (2005-2018) of the Municipality of North Norfolk, and was active with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities. He was involved in the management of Sprucedale Industries, Austin Hall, Manitoba Agricultural Museum, and Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation. He assisted the Manitoba Historical Society to map historic sites around the province. In recognition of his community service, he received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).
