Memorable Manitobans: William Ledrew Christie (?-1990)

Seed grower.

For over fifty years, he was a Select Seed Grower, being named a Robertson Associate, an award given to members of the Canadian Seed Growers Association who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of pedigreed seed grain and of service to the Association. He served as a director of the Manitoba branch of the CSGA for twelve years, serving two of those years as President. Christie also served as a trustee and Chairman of the Cypress River School Board and as a councillor of the Rural Municipality of South Cypress, also being awarded an Honorary Life Membership of the Cypress River Agricultural Society. He died at Baldur, Manitoba on 4 November 1990.
