Memorable Manitobans: James Carswell (1836-?)


Born Horton, Renfrew County, Ontario, 7 June 1839, son of David and Janet Carswell. Educated at public school, Pakenham; high school, Perth, Ontario; University of Toronto; in charge of Presbyterian Church, Little Britain, Ontario. Came to Manitoba, 1898, and has been connected with Winnipeg Presbytery since that date; held charge at Poplar Point, Manitoba; living retired since 1907. Married Christina Junor, St. Mary’s, Ontario, 1869, (deceased); has two sons and three daughters. Club: Canadian. Reformer; Presbyterian. Address: 186 Walnut Street, Winnipeg.
