Memorable Manitobans: David Kerr Brown (1854-1883)Journalist. Born at Edinburgh, Scotland in 1854, he was a reporter for the Edinburgh Scotsman before emigrating to Canada where he worked at several newspapers, eventually editing the Winnipeg Sun. He later abandoned journalism to manage some mining enterprises. He died at Rat Portage (now Kenora), Ontario on 14 October 1883. Sources:Death registration, Manitoba Vital Statistics.
