Memorable Manitobans: Kathleen Barrett Blanchard (1872-1954)Music historian. Born in England, she came to Winnipeg with her husband around 1920. In 1940 she began writing for the Free Press about the history of church music; her column was called “Romance of Our Hymns.” She ultimately published five books, including The Gossamer Thread (1937) and Stories of Popular Hymns (c1939).
