Memorable Manitobans: Fridrik Jonsson Bergmann (c1858-1918)Professor. Born in Iceland, he went to the United States in 1874 and graduated from Decorah College, Iowa. He was invited to become a professor of Icelandic at Winnipeg’s Wesley College in 1902. Noted as a littérateur, he was hit by an automobile on Sherbrook Street and died almost instantly.
