Memorable Manitobans: Mary Isabel Armitage (1902-2005)

Teacher.

Born in the New Haven district of Manitoba on 12 March 1902, she lived at Altamont for most of her life, where she taught school for 37 of her 41 teaching years, from 1924 to 1962. In 1970, she was awarded a Manitoba Centennial Medal by the Manitoba Historical Society for her contributions to education. She died unmarried at Manitou, Manitoba on 21 February 2005.
