Memorable Manitobans: James Wesley Anderson (1874-1961)Cleric. Born at Govan, Scotland on 14 October 1874, as a Presbyterian minister he came to Canada in 1908 and worked at Fort William [now Thunder Bay], Ontario for six months. He moved to Saskatchewan in 1909 where he ministered at Brownlee, Eyebrow, Sedley, and Lajard until 1913. He worked successively at Stony Mountain (1913-1927), Killarney (1927-1936), and Hartney United Church (1936-1941). In 1941, he retired to Stony Mountain and lived there until moving into his daughter's home at Lena. He was married twice, first on 31 July 1896 to Elizabeth McKail McNidder (1877-1932) at Paisley, Scotland. They had a daughter, Maisie Anderson (wife of Harold Parker). On 2 June 1937, he married Gladys Wylam Porter (1900-1949) of Boulder, Colorado. He was a member of the Masons (Stonewall Lodge, Stony Mountain Lodge) and Stony Mountain Legion.
