Customs agent.

Born in Nova Scotia on 24 February 1863, in 1903 he worked as a customs agent at Killarney. On 1 November 1892, he was married to Margaret Josephina Hill. They had four children: Alfred Ernest Sutherland (b 1893), Laurence Stanislaus Sutherland (b 1896), Mildred Katherine Sutherland (b 1898), and Frances A. Sutherland (b 1900).
