Unveiled on 7 October 1922 in memory of First World War veterans killed in action, the monument designed by Gilbert Parfitt of Winnipeg is made of Tyndall stone. Surrounded by a terrace with steps mounting on opposite sides, on four sides are four bronze tablets bearing 102 names. It was later expanded to commemorate veterans of the Second World War and Korean War, as well as Peacekeepers.
