Build at a cost of around $11,000, this facility operated under the name of Munroe School from 1953 to 1960 and hosted grades 1 to 3. In 1960, the original Polson School across the road was closed, with students transferring to the newer building for the Fall Term of that year. The building was expanded to handle the added enrollment demands, with eight classroom designed by the Winnipeg architectural firm of by Smith Carter Katelnikoff Architects. Grades 4 to 6 were added and the school was renamed Polson School to preserve the commemoration of Hugh Polson and avoid confusion with the nearby Munroe Junior High School. An expansion in 1974-1975 was designed by Macdonald Cockburn McLeod McFeetors Architects. It was expanded further in 1981. In commemoration of the school’s centenary in 2010, a small plaque in a tribute garden to the east of the primary school doors was dedicated to all who passed through the school’s doors.
