The Hazelridge School District was organized formally in September 1911. By mid-1912, it had become Hazelridge Consolidated School by consolidation with Klondyke School No. 1139. A two-classroom school building was constructed at Hazelridge in the Municipality of Springfield. By 1935 or 1936, the capacity of the school had been exceeded so a separate high school building was built on the same property. In 1948, the main school building underwent a significant renovation; its exterior was covered with insul-bric and, on the inside, an oil-burning furnace and a washroom with chemical toilets were added. Continued overcrowding in the 1950s necessitated the use of the nearby Orange Hall as a classroom for students in grades 9 and 10.
By 1961, the former high school building was being used for storage. It was sold to a local person and converted into a workshop. By 2020, the building had deteriorated to such an extent that it was demolished. The foundation was covered over so nothing remained visible at the time of a 2024 site visit.
In 1965, Hazelridge School became part of the Transcona-Springfield School Division. In August 1965, construction a new four-classroom school building began and students from the old two-room schoolhouse moved into it on 17 January 1966. The old building was sold to the Ridgeland Hutterite Colony and later demolished. The new school was opened officially on 29 April 1966 at a ceremony attended by School Board Chair Arthur C. Lazier, Rev. A. Friebert, historian Mrs. James Crossman, Department of Education Deputy Minister Robert William “Bob” Lightly, and guest speaker Rhoda May Gibbs Small, along with school trustees J. M. Cook, T. Lefco, S. Hnatishin, H. Lamont, and J. Solar.
At present (2024), Hazelridge School hosts classes from Kindergarten to grade 5.
