Historic Sites of Manitoba: Fire Hall No. 5 (354 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg)

This building appears on a 1911 map labeled as “Fire Hall No. 5” although a nearby Fire Hall is identified on its exterior as No. 5. It is probable that both were No. 5, but at different times in the past. Designed in 1904 by architect brothers Alexander D. Melville and Willian N. Melville, after being decommissioned as a fire station in 1919, the building was used for a succession of purposes. In the 2000s, it hosted an automotive glass business but was vacant for several years prior to its demolition in November 2011.
