Historic Sites of Manitoba: Blackwood Pickle Factory Building (415 Mulvey Avenue East, Winnipeg)This two-storey wood and concrete warehouse on Mulvey Avenue East adjacent to the Canadian National Railway main line in Winnipeg, measuring 160 feet by 58 feet, was designed by local architects John Woodman and Raymond Marwood-Elton Carey, and built in 1912 by contractor John McQuarrie at a cost of about $50,000. It was used initially by the Blackwood’s Brewery as a pickle factory, adjacent to its soda and mineral water factory at 421 Mulvey and brewery at 409 Mulvey. Occupants through the years included Systems Equipment Limited (1920s to 1960s), Flo-Form Industries Limited (1960s-1970s), Goldin and Company (1970s-1980s), Lemax Corporation (1990s-2000s), and Dominion Antiques (2010s).
