Educator.
Born at Elphinstone on 9 August 1925, son of Jacob Skabar (1894-1970) and Anne Sperrick (1904-1985), he attended the Manitoba Teachers’ College enroute to a career in education.
He taught at Norgate School (1947), Cavendish School (1949), and Zamek School (c1952-1954), and was Principal of Gonor School (1954-1956), Solsgirth School (1956-1957), Crandall School (1957), and Oak Bluff School (1957-1959) prior to joining the teaching staff of the Winnipeg School Division at Montcalm School (1959-1961) and Isaac Newton School (1961-1964). He married Zelma Penonzek (1927-2005) and they had three children. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1957 and resided at 116 Alfred Avenue.
He died at Winnipeg on 13 September 2018 and was buried in the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
