Memorable Manitobans: Leslie Harmon Shepley (1874-1959)Born on a farm in Raleigh Township, Ontario on 27 May 1874, son of Nelson H. Shepley (1835-1917) and Lydia Ann Jenner (1842-1913), he worked in building construction at Windsor before coming to Manitoba where he was a contractor at Winnipeg and Brandon. Later, for more than 20 years, he farmed south of Brandon until retirement in 1945. On 27 March 1907, he married Elizabeth May Grant (1874-1970) at Brandon and they had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Shepley. The family lived at 625 - 20th Street, Brandon. He died at Brandon on 23 June 1959 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery. See also:
