Memorable Manitobans: Mary Elizabeth Shepley (1909-1996)Educator. Born at Winnipeg on 25 December 1909, daughter of Elizabeth May Grant (1874-1970) and Leslie Harmon Shepley, she received a BA degree from Brandon College (1931). She studied psychology and dramatic arts at the University of Minneapolis then was Principal of Rugby High School (1933-1938). She returned to Winnipeg and taught at the Riverbend School for Girls. During the Second World War, he was a munitions inspector at Montreal, Shawinigan, and Niagara Falls (1942-1945). After the war, she resumed teaching at Riverbend before moving to the public school system, teaching for many years at Tec Voc High School (1952-c1969) where she was known for staging drama productions.
