Memorable Manitobans: Margaret Katherine McKinnon (1909-1996)Educator. Born at Brandon on 11 September 1909, daughter of Peter McKinnon and Bessie McLaurin, she moved to Winnipeg with her family in the 1920s. After graduating from the Central Normal School, she taught at rural schools for several years before returning to Winnipeg where she taught for many years, serving as Principal of Sir John Franklin School (1948-1954), Robert H. Smith School (1954-1962), Montrose School (1962-1969), and Mulvey School (1969-1971). She died at Winnipeg on 13 April 1996. Sources:Birth registration, Manitoba Vital Statistics.
