Memorable Manitobans: Charles Emerson Lindsay (1893-1966)

Lawyer.

Born at Ridgeville on 26 August 1893, son of Althear Empey, he attended Wesley College and received a law degree in 1918. He practiced law successively at Roblin, Killarney, and The Pas. From 1927 to 1937, he worked in Chicago (Illinois) for the company later known as Dunn and Bradstreet. He then returned to Manitoba and practiced law at Swan River from 1937 until his retirement to Emerson in 1960. He was made a King's Counsel in 1949. He and wife Eleanor Mabel ? (1889-1966) had no children. He was a member of the Masons (Emerson Lodge) and Royal Canadian Legion (Emerson Branch 77). He moved to MacGregor in December 1965 and died there on 12 June 1966. He was buried in the Emerson Cemetery.
