Accountant, conservation executive.
Born at Victoria, British Columbia on 10 April 1944, son of Alfred Vincent Lawrence Fowler (c1909-1994) and Ella Barbara Appler (1917-2015), he received a BA degree from the University of Winnipeg where he was Athlete of the Year. In 1973, he became a chartered accountant and joined Ducks Unlimited Canada as its Comptroller in Winnipeg. Over the next 29 years, he was appointed Manitoba Provincial Manager (1976), Western Regional Manager (1983), and Executive Vice-President (1999).
In September 2019, he was inducted into the North American Waterfowl Conservation Honour Roll at Oak Hammock Marsh, where he worked on its implementation, and was instrumental in promoting all the Canadian Habitat Joint Ventures focussing on areas or species of concern. He was married twice, first on 22 May 1971 to Barbara Judith Scott Deyman (1947-2004) at First Presbyterian Church. They divorced in 1978 and he later married Jette, with whom he had a daughter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, travel, and long-distance running. He completed the 2000 and 2001 Manitoba Marathon and the 2001 Okanagan International Marathon.
He died at Winnipeg on 4 October 2002.
