Curler.
Born at Brandon on 7 May 1920 to Edith Mary Lawson (1889-1974) and Ernest Howard Cove (1887-1953), she was the second of seven children. She attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in Winnipeg, and it was there that she was a Manitoba champion and international speed skater.
However, later in life she discovered a passion for curling and began her career in that sport at the Victoria Curling Club, with a short stint at the Regina Curling Club. In 1962, she moved to the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club (AMCC), where she spent many years as a player, and notably as a Manitoba Golden Gal Champion (1984). She actively supported the game by officiating and serving on various committees at the club and provincial levels, culminating with being President of the Manitoba Ladies Curling Association (MLCA; 1977-1978). She was recognized for her contributions on and off the ice by being granted a lifetime membership at the AMCC and Honourary Life Member of the MLCA (1979).
On 3 October 1941, she married Gordon Newton Dixon (1917-2009) at Winnipeg and they went on to have three children. Over the years, she and her husband traveled to many Brier and World curling events, most notably for her a visit to Gstaad, Switzerland in 1979 that included her children and the opportunity to curl together with them. She also enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends at Spruce Woods Provincial Park.
She died at Winnipeg on 14 June 2012.
