Memorable Manitobans: Marie Rose Reine Trottier “Irene” Dauphinais (1906-1983)Educator. Born in the Rural Municipality of Ritchot on 28 September 1906, daughter of Bernadette Guichon (1884-1941) and Arthur Trottier (1883-1964), she grew up at St. Norbert and became a school teacher. Her career included teaching at Rosamond School (?-?), Barrick School (1943-1948), St. Francois Xavier West School / Pigeon Lake School (1948-1953), Todd School (1954-1961), St. Francois Xavier Centre School (1961-1965, Principal), and Dieppe School (1965-1967). On 17 June 1936, she married Celestin Dauphinais (1894-1940) in Rural Municipality of Macdonald and they had two children: Sheila Dauphinais (c1937-1974, wife of John Warren Malo) and Guy Dauphinais. She died on 3 June 1983 during a visit to Bondville, Quebec and her body was returned to Manitoba for burial in the Blessed Sacrament Parish Cemetery.
