Boxer, police officer.
Born at Sylvan on 31 October 1932 to Maria Korzelski (1893-1984) and Frederick Chyzzy (1886-1969), he was 15th of their 19 children. He attended Lowland School, Ardal School, St. Laurent School, and St. Paul's College in Winnipeg. A few years after graduating, his talent for boxing was noticed in Ontario while he was sparring with a friend, and he was invited to join the Crescent Boxing Club back in Winnipeg.
In 1953, he became the Manitoba Middle Weight Champion, and in 1954 won the title of Canadian Middle Weight Champion. He was proud of his boxing career and later joined the Brooklands Police Force and Grand Beach Police Patrol. He was also well known in those years for his resemblance to rock-and-roll icon Elvis Presley when he was in uniform, and as such became a popular partner for the women at dances.
In 1960, he travelled the Atlantic and Arctic oceans as a Commercial Ships Officer until he retired and moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where he spent many hours at the gym and was a dedicated volunteer.
He died at Victoria on 26 October 2012 and was buried in the Sylvan Public Cemetery.
