Located in the North Kildonan area of Winnipeg, this school was built in 1960 for the North Kildonan School District in the new one-thousand dwelling Springfield Heights residential development. It was based on designs of the Winnipeg-based firm of Ward and Macdonald and opened to staff and students on 6 September 1960. The original 16-room configuration is the south half of the present configuration. Within two months of opening, district voters approved a $435,000 school building program. Most of these funds went to doubling the school’s capacity via a 16-room and auditorium expansion. Expanded in 1961, on the north side of the facility, designs were again provided by Ward and Macdonald.
