Home economist, community activist.
Born at Pense, Saskatchewan on 14 August 1930, daughter of Wallace and Euphemia Thomson, in 1951 she received a Bachelor of Home Economics degree from the University of Manitoba and was one of the first home economists employed in rural Manitoba by the Manitoba Department of Agriculture Extension.
In July 1952, she married William Joseph “Bill” Strath and quit working to raise their three daughters and a son. In 1969, she joined Statistics Canada and worked on censuses until the late 1980s. She was a Liberal candidate for the Souris-Killarney constituency in a 1976 provincial by-election and the 1977 provincial general election. In the late 1970s, she hosted a daytime talk show on CKX Radio and operated women's clothing stores at Dauphin and Brandon from 1979 to 1982. She moved to Winnipeg in 1980 when her husband was elected to the board of Manitoba Pool Elevators, moving to Souris in 1990.
She died at Souris on 20 November 2011.
