Memorable Manitobans: Edward Joseph “Eddy” St. Mars (1928-2013)

Athlete.

Born on 4 September 1928, he worked at Greater Winnipeg Water District, Peter Leach Construction, Manitoba Sugar Company then, from 1973 until retirement, operated his own company E & J Enterprises. Known for his love of sports, he won the Heavyweight Boxing Championship of Manitoba in 1951 under trainer Gordon Mackie. From 1952 to 1969, he played football with the St. Boniface Legionnaires, St. James Rams, Elmwood Colts, and St. Vital Bulldogs. He died at Winnipeg on 29 August 2013.
