Lawyer.
Born at Kamuli, Uganda on 19 January 1932 to Santok Tanna and Dayalji Raichura, he grew up in East Africa, studied Law at Lincoln's Inn (a professional association for Barristers and Judges in London, England), then returned to Jinja, Uganda to practice. In 1958, he married Sharda Ruparell and they went on to have four children. He relocated to Winnipeg in 1966 and his family followed a few months later.
His legal career included holding the position of Public Trustee for Manitoba for many years, as well as appearances at the Supreme Court of Canada on numerous occasions winning precedent-setting legal cases. He was appointed a Queens Counsel in 1982.
In 1993, he retired to San Antonio, Texas then returned to Canada to settle in Kelowna, British Columbia. His interests were diverse, including sports, travel, gourmet food, wine-making, and entertaining. For many years he also enjoyed golf, squash, tennis, billiards, and cricket. Taking his family camping from coast to coast was his way of instilling in them a love for exploration and life.
He died at Kelowna, British Columbia on 6 October 2012.
