Memorable Manitobans: Franklin Paul “Frank” Pitura (1943-2019)

Farmer, MLA (1995-1999), MLA (1999-2003).

Born at Winnipeg on 24 October 1943, son of Frank Pitura (1907-1981) and Doris Palahniuk (1918-1992), his childhood was spent on the family farm near Domain. He was educated at Sanford Collegiate and the University of Manitoba. He was elected as a Progressive Conservative for the Morris constituency in the 1995 general election and served as Minister of Government Services (1997-1999). Re-elected in 1999, he was not a candidate in 2003. He died at Winnipeg on 16 February 2019.
