Lawyer.
Born at Finch, Ontario on 30 October 1859, he came to Winnipeg in 1882. After teaching school in Portage la Prairie and Brandon for several years, he took a law course and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1892. He practiced in Winnipeg for a short time before moving to Morden where he practiced with John Henry Black and J. B. McLaren in the firm of McLaren McLeod Black. He was made a King's Counsel (1916).
He was solicitor for the Mennonite settlement in southern Manitoba and was involved in legal work relating to their non-compliance with the Manitoba Schools Act during the government of Tobias Norris. In 1921, he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and practiced there until around 1921 when he returned to Winnipeg.
Around 1897, he married Agnes Colquhoun (1860-1926) at Deloraine. They had a daughter, Margaret McLeod (1898-?, wife of Robert Yeatman). He was President of the Manitoba Liberal Association (1920-1921) and served on the advisory board of the University of Manitoba.
He died at his Winnipeg residence, Suite 1 Riverside Apartments, on 30 January 1938. He was buried in the Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery.
