Memorable Manitobans: Angus Matheson McKay (1862-1953)
Real estate agent, municipal official.
Born at what would be the Municipality of Kildonan on 20 October 1862, son of James McKay and Jane Matheson, he farmed for a few years before joining the real estate firm of W. R. Hamilton and Company. On 2 November 1904, he married Annie Munroe McLeod (1871-1934) at Kildonan. They had three daughters: Jean McKay (1905-1978, wife of Walter Clifton McDonald), Frances Isabel McKay, and Annie Mildren McKay (1909-2004, wife of John Ronald McDonald). He lived at 1184 Kildonan Drive (c1914-1953), was a member of the Elmwood Curling Club, and an inaugural Councillor of North Kildonan (1925-1932). He died at Winnipeg on 16 September 1953 and was buried in the Kildonan Cemetery.
