Businessman, community activist.
Born at Morden on 21 April 1925 to Effie Alberta Weir (1891-1966) and Alexander Williamson West Livingston (1891-1966), he grew up at Morden and then served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He returned to Morden, and with his wife, Shirley Margaret Presley (1923-2017), went on to have five children.
He joined the family hardware business of A. W. Livingston and Son. Simultaneously, he was involved in the steel building business, property development, and other ventures. He served on the Morden Town Council and the board of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.
He received several commendations, including a Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada (1992) and a Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Medal (2002). Livingston Nature Park at Morden was named after him and his wife in gratitude for their many years of service to the community.
In retirement, he and his wife moved to Vancouver Island in 2004 and travelled extensively. In 2011, he received a Morden Chamber of Commerce Community Influence Award.
He died at Victoria, British Columbia on 16 August 2011 and was buried in the Morden Hillside Cemetery.
