Baseball player.
Born at Anola on 28 June 1973 to Leonard and Mary Ann Koskie, he began a baseball career in 1989 with the Elmwood Giants of the Manitoba Junior Baseball League. He earned a baseball scholarship to Boone College, Iowa. In 1992, he attended the National Baseball Institute in Surrey, British Columbia. He was drafted and signed by the Minnesota Twins in 1994.
In 1998, he began his Major League career with the Twins, playing third base. He was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005, and the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006. His career baseball records entailed play in nine Major League seasons (1998-2006), totaling 989 games, 3,399 at-bats, and a lifetime batting average of .275. In 2001 with the Minnesota Twins, he hit 26 home runs, had 103 runs batted in, and stole 27 bases.
He was the 1999 and 2001 Male Athlete of the Year named by the Manitoba Sportswriter and Sportscasters Association. He was inducted to the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame (2011), Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame (2013), Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame (2015), and Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame (2025).
