Memorable Manitobans: Vyrna Alice Havard Heggie (1924-1994)Educator. Born in Manitoba in 1924, daughter of Amy Gertrude Snowdon (1894-1961) and Albert Edward Havard (1885-1957), she spent her early years at 26-5-8W (1926) in the Rural Municipality of Lorne. Following teacher training, she worked the Fort Garry School District at Viscount Alexander High School (1950-1951) and within the West Kildonan School District and Seven Oaks School Division at Centennial School (1951-1953) and Edmund Partridge School (1955-1956) prior to serving as Principal of Seven Oaks School (1958-1960), Governor Semple School (1960-1965), and Victory School (1965-c1969). She married Robert Heggie (c1921-1983) by the 1950s and later moved to Toronto, Ontario. She died in 1994 and was buried with her parents at Greenwood Cemetery in Carman.
