Memorable Manitobans: Richard Harold “Doc” Hannah (1916-1990)College professor. Born at Wakaw, Saskatchewan on 9 July 1916, son of Katherine Rosetta Gordon and Robert Henry Hannah, he received a BA degree from McMaster University and served for three years in the Royal Canadian Air Force. In September 1948, he began teaching botany and zoology at Brandon College. In 1962, after completing a MSc degree at the University of Minnesota, he returned to the College and taught until retirement in 1981. He was a long-time trainer of the College's hockey team. He and wife Bernice had a daughter and two sons. He was a member of the AF and AM (Tweed Lodge No. 113), Royal Order of Scotland, and Khartum Temple Shrine. He served as Grand Master of Manitoba (1984-1985). He died at the Brandon General Hospital on 6 September 1990 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery.
