Memorable Manitobans: Ivan Glenn Fulford (1913-2021)

Farmer, cleric.

Born at Mather on 26 October 1913, son of Alfred “Doc” Fulford (1887-1984) and Christena Elizabeth “Tena” McLeod (1886-1981), the family farmed near Mather until 1934 when they took up a homestead near Minitonas. On 14 October 1937, he married Bernice Maude Godin (1916-1999) at Winnipeg and they eventually had three sons and four daughters, including Gordon Ivan Fulford. He farmed until 1954 when he became a student minister at Oakland United Church while attending college until graduation in 1958. His first ministry (1957-1960) was a three-church charge: Grandview United Church, Tamarisk United Church, and Umatilla United Church. He later served at Wiseton and Pelly, Saskatchewan. Following retirement from the ministry in 1976, he returned to farming at Pelly. He died at Canora, Saskatchewan on 14 March 2021.
