He practiced as an architect for 36 years, forming in July 1973 a short-lived partnership with Walter Lionel Katelnikoff. He designed or managed construction of commercial and residential properties, personal care homes, educational, military and recreational facilities, and developed an expertise in health care facilities around Manitoba and Ontario. He was President, Treasurer and member of the Manitoba Association of Architects; member of the Council of Education Facility Planners, International; founding Member of the Canadian Hospital Engineering Society; member of the American Society for Health Care Engineering of the American Hospital Associatio; and had a long-standing appointment to the International Council Architects Registration Board.
He and wife Reva Szlachter had three daughters. An active member of the Jewish community, he served as President and Board member of the Herzlia synagogue; Chair and Board member of Joseph Wolinsky Collegiate; Board member of the Winnipeg Jewish Community Council; Chair and Board member and Mayor for the Shalom Square of Folklorama; and Board Member and Tu BShevat Telethon Chair of the Jewish National Fund. He was also President of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Variety Club of Manitoba, a Board member for the Folk Arts Council of Winnipeg, and a volunteer and tour guide with Folklorama.
He died at Winnipeg on 24 January 2004.
