Memorable Manitobans: Berdina Darling Regina Cooney (1897-1987)Educator. Born at Gladstone on 24 December 1897, daughter of William Cooney and Rachael Jane Beck, she was a teacher, Vice-Principal of Victory School (1948-?) and Principal of Governor Semple School (1955-1960). In 1970, she received a Manitoba Centennial Medal in recognition of her exemplary community service. She died at Kelowna, British Columbia on 19 September 1987.
