Firefighter.
He farmed near Ste. Rose du Lac until moving to Brandon in 1929 where he joined the Brandon Fire Department. On 7 September 1920, he married Agnes Gray (?-?) at Dauphin and they had six children: Winnifred Agnes “Win” Brown (1922-2013, wife of Gilbert James “Gib” Bell), Ena Brown (wife of Arnold Dafoe), Eunice Brown (wife of Michael Harris and ? McLean), Glen Brown, Robert “Bob” Brown, and Stanley “Stan” Brown. The family lived at 119 Twenty-first Street in Brandon at the time of his death. He died at Brandon on 6 April 1953, as a result of smoke inhalation while fighting a fire, and was buried in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. As the only Brandon firefighter to have lost his life in the line of duty, he is commemorated by Fred Brown Way.
