Memorable Manitobans: Robert Duncan Bell (1875-1948)

Manager.

Born in Prince Edward Island on 13 June 1875, son of Gilbert and Sophia McDougall Bell, he was educated at Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, PEI. He came to Winnipeg in 1914 as Manager of the North American Life Assurance Company. On 22 October 1907, he married Jeanette Catherine MacLeod (1880-1951) and they had one son and two daughters. In 1925, the family lived at 85 Maryland Street (c1925) and 95 Chestnut Street (c1948). He was a member of the Masons and Southwood Golf Club. He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 23 April 1948 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
