Historic Sites of Manitoba: Red Indian Service Station (355 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg)

Formerly located at the northeast corner of Henderson Highway (formerly Kelvin Street) and Harbison Avenue West in Winnipeg, a one-storey brick building, measuring 17 feet by 32 feet, was built in 1929 at a cost of about $6,800, as a service station for the McColl-Frontenac Oil Company to sell the firm’s Red Indian brand of gasoline.

The building originally had two service bays and two gasoline pumps. The building has been demolished and the site is now occupied by a convenience store.
