A monolithic monument in Minnedosa, unveiled on 16 October 1921, was designed by architect F. W. Simon and constructed by J. O. Brunet under the direction of F. P. Inman. It commemorates local citizens who died during military service.

1. Daphne Gray of Worcestershire, England reports (15 July 2014) that F. J. Instance left Worcestershire to emigrate to Canada in 1914. He left Liverpool on 2 April 1914, age 19, and sailed to St. John’s, New Brunswick. About two years later, on 11 March 1916, he enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Minnedosa. He served in the 16th Battalion (Manitoba Regiment)and was killed in action, age 23, on 1 October 1918. He is commemorated in three locations in England: the Worcestershire Roll of Honour in Worcester Cathedral; the memorial in the Church of St. Lawrence, Lindridge, Worcestershire; and the memorial in Bayton Primary School, Worcestershire.
