The first school building at Golden Stream was built of logs in 1873, in what is now the Municipality of WestLake-Gladstone. A school district for it was established formally in April 1875. A wood frame, one-classroom building replaced the original school in 1895, and in turn it was replaced in 1949. The school closed in 1968 and its remaining students went to Gladstone Consolidated School No. 2457. The building is no longer present at the site but a monument dedicated on 30 July 1995 commemorates it. Also on the monument are memorials for two men killed during the Second World War.
