Historic Sites of Manitoba: Garden Theatre (184 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg)

Formerly located on Henderson Highway in Winnipeg, a one-storey brick theatre building, measuring 32 feet by 120 feet, was designed architects Roberts and Perth and built in 1915 by day labour for theatre operator Manual Gonsalves at a cost of about $20,000. With a seating capacity for about 500 people, its grand opening was on 18 September 1915.

In the 1920s, the theatre was acquired as part of the Allied Amusements Limited chain. The theatre closed sometime after 1930 and was later demolished. The site is now occupied by another commercial building.
