The Dand School District was established formally in January 1918 at this site in Dand, in what is now the Municipality of Deloraine-Winchester. A vote of local ratepayers was held in December 1918 at which a $9,000 debenture was approved following a 10-0 vote for the purchase of land and construction of a new schoolhouse for the consolidated school district, catchment which was previously included Chain Lakes School No. 783 and Luther School No. 1018.

The original building, constructed in 1919 using bricks from Hartney, had two classrooms with the basement utilized as a third classroom (1958-1964). In 1964, students in grades 9 to 11 were bused to Deloraine so the school returned to two active classrooms. It closed in 1970 then the building was used as a community centre for 15 years. It was demolished in March 1986.

A monument erected in June 1970 commemorates the students and teachers of Dand School.
