Educator, farmer, MLA (1990-1995), MLA (1995-1999), MLA (1999-2003), MLA (2003-2007), MLA (2007-2011).
Born at Cowan on 15 August 1945, daughter of Mary Pilipchuk (1914-1977) and Wasyl John “Bill” Harapiak (1906-1992), sister of Leonard Ernest “Len” Harapiak and Harry Myrislaw Harapiak, she was elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly at the 1990 general election. Re-elected in 1995, 1999, 2003, and 2007, she served as Minister of Agriculture and Food (1999-2003), Deputy Premier (2003-2011), Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (2003-2009), and Minister of Finance (2009-2011). She did not run in the 2011 general election. In recognition of her community service, she received a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002).
