Leonard Ernest “Len” Harapiak

Educator, MLA (1986-1988).

Born at Cowan on 4 July 1942, son of Mary Pilipchuk (1914-1977) and Wasyl John “Bill” Harapiak (1906-1992), brother of Harry Myrislaw Harapiak and Rosann Harapiak Wowchuk, he received BA and BEd degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, after which he taught at Swan River South School (1968-1970) and Minitonas School (1970-1972, Principal). He first engaged in provincial politics in the 1977 general election, being defeated by Douglas MacLeod “Doug” Gourlay. Elected at the 1986 general election, he served as Minister of Natural Resources (1986-1987) and Minister of Agriculture (1987-1988) before being defeated in the 1988 general election.
