He worked in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division, serving as a teacher at Linwood School (1958-1960), Woodhaven School (1960-1961), and Golden Gate School (1964-1965); Vice-Principal of Bannatyne School (1967-1970), Strathmillan School (1970-1972), and Buchanan School (1983-1987); and Principal of Birchwood School (1972-1973), Arthur Oliver School (1973-1975), Jameswood School (1975-1980), and Athlone School (1980-1983).
