Historic Sites of Manitoba: McCutcheon House / Park Manor Apartments (424 Edmonton Street, Winnipeg)

This 2½-storey cream brick and Tyndall stone trimmed, Richardsonian Romanesque-style house was at the southwest corner of Edmonton Street and Sargent Avenue in Winnipeg. Measuring 34 feet by 50 feet, it was designed by architect James Chisholm and built in 1902 by contractors William James Hodgins and William Horner, at a cost of about $10,000, for owner Albert Ney McCutcheon. He was the proprietor of the brick manufacturing company of A. N. McCutcheon and Company, which operated the Whitemouth Brickyard.

Between 1940 and 1941, alterations to the house convert it into an apartment block, known as Park Manor Apartments, at a cost of about $4,500. The house has since been demolished and the site is now occupied by multi-storey high-rise apartment block.
