Historic Sites of Manitoba: Corrine Service Station (548 Salter Street, Winnipeg)

Formerly located at the southwest corner of Salter Street and Bannerman Avenue in Winnipeg, a one-storey wood frame and stucco building, measuring 20 feet by 20 feet, was built in 1931 at a cost of about $2,000, as a service station for proprietor Walter Corrine. The building originally had two gasoline pumps that sold Imperial Oil Limited brand gasoline and a small office for the service station attendant.

Known as the Corrine Service Station, the building was later demolished and was replaced in the late 1950s or early 1960s by a Shell Oil Canada three-bay, ranch style service station.
