Historic Sites of Manitoba: Chick Lumber and Fuel Building (1914 Main Street, Winnipeg)

This one-storey building at the northwest corner of Main Street and Partridge Avenue in West Kildonan (now part of Winnipeg), measuring 28 feet by 100 feet, was built in 1933 for lumber merchant and fuel dealer Charles C. Chick for his business the Chick Lumber and Fuel Company. The building was used as the office and store for the company, while the lumber and fuel yard was located along Partridge Avenue behind the building.

By 1997, the business was bankrupt and the building was sold. At the time of a 2025 site visit, it was occupied by a carpet and flooring store.
